Places like Mount Tamborine, Springbrook National Park, and Lamington National Park are all worth a visit when you can find the time.

Our Top 5 Tips

If you’ve never explored ‘the green behind the gold’ before, here are some tips to help you on your way after you’ve picked up a hire car from Evolve Rentals.

1. Think about travel times

When it comes to the Gold Coast hinterland, some of the most scenic spots can take up to 2 hours to reach from your beachside accommodation, so be sure to look up travel times so you can explore at the right time of day for your desired activity.

2. Make sure you have maps and a GPS

Street directories and maps are all supplied free of charge with your car hire and the hinterland drives are fairly well sign-posted. But if you’d like assurance as you travel, add a GPS to your booking for just a small daily fee.

3. Fill up with fuel

If you’ve already been driving around town for a couple of days, make sure you have a full tank before you head out to the Gold Coast hinterland. There are plenty of long stretches of scenic winding roads – but we can’t say the same about service stations!

4. Drive carefully

The winding, narrow roads need to be navigated carefully, and it is important to watch out for cyclists and wildlife as you approach blind corners.

5. Take lots of photos!

Be sure to have your camera handy when you hop out of the car to capture the beauty of the Gold Coast hinterland.
